The charts below give information on the ages of populations in Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and making comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words. The charts compare two countries, Yemen and Italy, by population, in three age groups in 2000 and 2050. According to the 2000 data, in Yemen, half the people were under 15, compared to Italy where the figure stood at 14%. Those between 15 and 59 years of age formed nearly half the population of the former country, whereas in the latter, they made up just under two thirds. One of the most striking differences was in the oldest sector of the population. In Italy they accounted for almost a quarter of the total, although in Yemen, they represented only 4%. In terms of the projection, in 2050, Yemen is expected to see a reduction in the number of children aged 0-14 from half the population to a little over a third, and an increase in those aged 15-59 to 57%. The change to those over 60, however, will probably be very slight at 2%. In Italy, on the other hand, the change is significant as with fewer children and a fall in the 15-59 year age range to 46%, the number of people over 60 is expected to rise to 42%. Overall, while the biggest groups in both countries are still likely to be the 15-59 year-olds, Yemen is likely to have more young people and fewer old people, while the reverse will be true in Italy.
