Some people believe that it is the responsibility of individuals to take care of their own health and diet. Others however believe that governments should make sure that their citizens have a healthy diet.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Health is one of the topics gaining much of an attention nowadays. While some people debate that individuals should cater for their own well-being and eating habit, there are yet people who hinge this obligation on the government. I would expound on these two views and conclude with my opinion.
To begin, health is the condition of well-being of an individual. The responsibility of well-being cannot be overlooked by the individual for the one reason that it could infringe on the individual’s ability to secure daily bread as expressed in the axiom “health is wealth”. When people are disease free, they are able to meet the demands of a busy day. Also, certain foods are known to create enabling environment for disease culture and it would thus be the role of people to abstain from these. For example, a hypertensive patient cautious reduction on the intake of salt.
On the other hand, according to World Commission on Environment Development (WCED), health is a part of the indices for national development. This implies that for a government to be conceived as successful, the healthy lifestyles of its citizen as well as the eating manner should be bore upon the government. More so, governments’ ability to respond to the health of individuals directly impacts on the workforce of the nation as it is only the healthy that can work.
In conclusion, single individuals willingness to carter for their own health lifestyles and eating habits keeps them in form for daily activities while government obligation on these positively affects the workforce. However, I am of the opinion that the responsibilities these bodies play are unique and as such both the individual and government have to bear the obligations for personal well being and eating lifestyles.
